Portraits

Dancers Glitch and Tinky again. They’ve got great style and an amazing bond together.

Grease Monkey and Tattoos

Joe Grondalski is a bit of a renaissance man. Owner of punk/rockabilly/hot rod clothing store Grease Monkey, ex Utah snowboarder / musician / bar owner, motorcycle and car enthusiast and martial arts teacher. Photographed with his 1960 Chevy Apache panel truck in Atlanta.

Fence jump

From a test shoot with dancers Glitch and Tinky. They are both incredibly talented dancers, but when Glitch told me he’s done a little parkour, I decided to incorporate a little of those skills into this portrait sequence. More to come from our shoot together.

Rugby

Atlanta is quite the rugby town. Even has one of the top rugby clubs in the country. I had no idea. This match was between Old White and High Country. A good bunch of players who do this on their off time, but put their heart and soul, not to mention a little blood, into the game. Puddles on the pitch from a little storm the previous night just added to the muddy fun. Portrait of Michael, who was a good enough sport to let me jam a camera in his face after 80 minutes of hard play.

Atlanta evening ‘scapes

Wandering the new neighborhood in Atlanta with my old school manual 6×7 rangefinder and a single roll of film. Black box, lens, shutter and aperture. Simple…..

Colorado landscapes

Searching through my archives for completely different images for a client, I stumbled upon these shots taken a while ago in the Colorado Mountains—or is that the high desert? Scanned from 4×5 film, I was experimenting with tilt/shift and day for night shooting at the time. Revisiting the retouching, I think I’ve brought them to a good place. If Kodak can keep going (such a sad business story), I plan to start shooting more film now I’m down in Atlanta.

Alex and Car

Portraits from a test shot with Alex and his souped up Toyota.

Hunting dogs

After photographing Dean out in the woods with his bow (see post below) we went back to his house, where he’s got a little catfish pond that his hunting dogs (1 chocolate and 1 yellow lab) love to play in and cool off. Even when having fun they’re super intense.

Hunter

From a session with my friend Dean, a real Illinois outdoorsman. Bow and arrow is his preferred method for filling the freezer with venison for the coming year.

Stunt airplanes

Amazing stunt planes on an almost perfectly clear Fall day. Rantoul Airbase, Illinois.
