NICK BURCHELL

I picked up my first camera in London, and since then photography has taken me places I never imagined I'd go. Lucky for me, I grew up with family and friends who were always up for an adventure—we'd spend our weekends hiking, climbing, or jumping on trains for crazy-quick trips to Europe. Looking back, those early days of mixing city life with outdoor adventures shaped the way I see things through my lens.

My journey's been a bit of a zigzag: I started in London's music scene, then found myself in photo school in Toronto, and now I call Atlanta home. I guess I've got that American wanderlust I used to read about as a kid in London—it's shaped how I approach both photography and my life. For instance, I spent one birthday climbing to the top of the world's highest active volcano in the Andes, another shooting a chef from the back of Harley Davidson while he rode his motorbike through Mexico City. That's the thing about this job—you never know where it'll take you next.

When I'm shooting, everything else falls away. It's me, the camera, and whatever amazing moment is unfolding in front of me. Over the years, I've shot pretty much everything you can think of, but I always come back to people. That's my sweet spot—photographing real people in real places, catching those moments when they're being themselves. There's something special about documenting how we connect with each other and the world around us, whether it's through work, travel, food, the spaces we live in or just everyday life.

What drives me is simple: I love showing people as they really are. Not the polished, perfect versions, but the genuine moments that make us human. When I'm out there shooting, I’m looking for those little glances, natural gestures, and unguarded expressions that tell the real story. Because at the end of the day, it's these honest, unvarnished moments that connect us all and make each person's story worth telling.
